科学部门 Science Department
Department Vision
To nurture joyful learners who are inspired by science, inquire and innovate like scientists, and serve as eco-stewards for a sustainable future.
Department Mission
To cultivate a genuine love of learning and inspire scientific curiosity in every student, empowering them to explore, question, and understand the world around them.
Science Department
The Science Department's focus is centered on three key priorities: Inquiry-based Learning, Differentiated Instruction, and Assessment Literacy. To enact these focus areas in the classroom, the department employs four core strategies — Argumentation, Visible Thinking Strategies, Practices of Science, and Talk Moves.

Argumentation is developed through the Claim-Evidence-Reasoning (CER) framework, which supports students in thinking clearly, logically and critically with confidence.
Harvard Project Zero's Visible Thinking Routines are infused into the curriculum to promote reflective learning, with routines such as “What I used to think… Now I think", "Circle of Viewpoints", and "See, Think, Wonder”, encouraging students to question, wonder, and reflect on the Science around them.
The Practices of Science grounds students in Scientific inquiry, developing the skills and dispositions to approach Science investigations systematically and with curiosity while Talk Moves cultivate rich classroom discussions.
Together, these approaches reflect the department's commitment to developing adaptive learners and critical thinkers who are inspired by Science, can inquire like Scientists, and are able to innovate using Science.

Talent Development Programme
Inquiry-Based Learning
To support Inquiry-Based Learning, students engage in hands-on investigations and level-wide learning experiences to explore and understand scientific phenomena. These experiences support the acquisition of Science concepts while igniting curiosity and a positive disposition towards learning Science.
Students actively participate in hands-on investigative activities to develop process skills and to observe scientific phenomenon. The use of Science learning kits and toys support the students' learning of scientific concepts while igniting their curiosity and a joy of learning.

Through inquiry-based learning, students explore and investigate like Scientists, making sense of the world around them.

Students engage in discussions through Talk Moves strategies to sharpen their scientific reasoning.

Students apply their science knowledge in designing and creating their own toys, turning ideas into innovative creations.

Students discover the fascinating life cycle of butterflies and the wonders of nature.
Sustainability Education
The school promotes sustainability through a range of programmes that combine awareness with purposeful action. Assembly programmes deepen students’ understanding of key issues such as biodiversity conservation, food wastage and environmental stewardship, while recycling initiatives provide authentic opportunities to practise responsible habits. Complementing these, hydroponics and farming activities offer hands-on experiences for students to explore sustainable food production. Together, these learning experiences nurture environmentally responsible students equipped with the knowledge, skills and values to contribute meaningfully to a sustainable future.

Through hands-on hydroponics and farming activities, students deepen their understanding of plant systems and Singapore's journey towards a sustainable future.

Students learning about how black soldier flies reduce food wastage.

Students participate in recycling activities in school to promote environmental sustainability.

Our Environment Ambassadors encouraging sustainable habits during an assembly presentation.
Talent Development Programme
The Science Talent Development Programme nurtures students’ passion and aptitude in science by providing rich opportunities to stimulate their curiosity and develop critical thinking and scientific habits of mind, while applying their knowledge to real-world problem-solving.

Students in the Talent Development Programme have the opportunity for in-school or out-of-school learning experiences to nurture their passion for Science
